Since 1970 in the isolated and picturesque valley of Atxarte in the mountains of the Basque Country, a group of young climbers used to meet to share their passion for the mountains as they ventured into pioneering climbs at an international level. However, everything changed when one of them suffered a serious accident and doctors told him he would never climb again. After a miraculous recovery, he devised a special tradition to celebrate his return to life. Over the years, that day became an unmissable event for the climbing community: The Atxarte Carnival.
