It is unfortunate, but not unexpected, that the celebrations were confined to Asia. However, her story is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring in sport. Tabei transcended social norms and Japanese cultural traditions by adopting masculine and culturally different or westernised methods to lead high-altitude mountain expeditions for women only. Tabei helped establish the Joshi-Tohan Japanese Ladies Climbing Club, founded on the slogan: “Let’s go on an overseas expedition by ourselves”. His film ‘Everest Green’ received the Award for Best Mountaineering Film in 2018 in the Mendi Film festival. In 2023, he premiered ‘Everest Invaders: asalto a la papelera más alta del mundo’, in Bilbao. "I could have been a vagabond. Cinema, beauty, art, the mountains, the wind, the sea, reflection, some wonderful encounters, and Phi, made me a troubadour".

She is guided by historians, citizens, and the weavers of legends, who reveal the soul of the estuary to her. The ancient beaches and caves, whaling, shipbuilding and shipyards, ironworks, salmon fisheries, traditional forestry...
