Euskalduna Bilbao - 12 dic 12:00 - El llanto del glaciar / K2 - Lurretik Hegan / 4000 m from homeEL LLANTO DEL GLACIARSpain, 6 min Director: Jordi Mestre Lopez EUSKADI PREMIERE A collaborative artistic project that brings together music, vertical dance, and audiovisual creation, conceived and developed on some of the planet’s most vulnerable glaciers. Artists from Catalonia, Patagonia, and Ecuador’s Andean region have worked collectively to build a piece born directly from contact with ice and its fragility. The work presents voices, bodies, and sounds that move across different regions of the world, united by a shared concern over the accelerated retreat of glaciers.
K2 - LURRETIK HEGANSpain, 30 min Director: Joxe Ramon Agirre INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE A group of mountaineers sets out on an epic expedition through the Karakoram, dreaming of scaling the Trango walls and reaching the imposing K2. Beyond the adventure itself, the journey becomes a profoundly human experience. In the small Balti village of Arandu, an elderly man gives Mattin Iñiguez, one of the mountaineers, a cloth scapular embroidered with prayers. He asks him to take it up into the mountains so that they may return to the village with the protection and energy they have received.
4000 M FROM HOMEFrance, 66 min Director: Pierre Cadot EUSKADI PREMIERE For over twenty years, Vivian Bruchez has pursued a singular vision: to ski all 82 Alpine summits above 4,000 meters in the Alps. An undertaking of extraordinary scale, driven by patience, commitment, friends, and a lifelong relationship with the mountains. But as the project nears completion, something begins to shift. The desire to finish, to complete the list, starts to blur the limits Vivian once believed were clear.

Euskalduna Bilbao - 12 dic 17:00 - MendiTalk: PREMIO WOP MENDI FILM 2026 / In Unison / Nanga Parbat - Echoes of SisyphusMENDITALK: WOP MENDI FILM AWARD 2026Alishah Farhang Alishah Farghang will receive the 2026 WOP Mendi Film Award. Having trained abroad and enjoyed a privileged upbringing, he decided to return to his homeland, Afghanistan, out of love and a commitment to his people. He returned with a dream: to turn the mountains and skiing into a means of promoting health, leisure, happiness and gender equality in a society that was depressed and weighed down by conflict. He brought a new way of living and experiencing life to the mountains of the countryside, and through them, to the people. However, the return of the Taliban forced him to flee the country with his family after being singled out for his “revolution”. Today he is a refugee, a number, almost anonymous in Europe. He is waiting to be able to return to his homeland to continue pursuing his dream. This award aims to pay tribute to those silent heroes who, even in the face of adversity, continue to imagine a better future for their community. Because there are people who leave their mark through the peaks they reach, and others through the lives they help to uplift. Alishah Farghang undoubtedly belongs to the latter group.
IN UNISONFrance, 33 min Director: Davina & Sébastien Montaz-Rosset INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE One story, two destinies... A virtuoso pianist and cellist, Arthur chose the dizzying heights of great rock faces over concert stages, pushing the boundaries of modern climbing and mountaineering. His twin brother Alexandre, a talented climber who remained in Paris, followed a different path, gradually drawing their worlds apart. Until one slightly crazy dream: to climb an iconic summit together and let their cellos resonate there. High above, music and mountains bring their paths together again and renew the bond of brotherhood.
NANGA PARBAT - ECHOES OF SISYPHUSGermany , Spain , France , Pakistan, 50 min Director: Tom Dauer NATIONAL PREMIERE David Göttler has found himself on his first winter expedition (2013/2014) to an eight-thousand-meter peak invited by the older and more experienced climber, Simone Moro. The goal is the Rupal Face of Nanga Parbat, the highest wall in the world. They are traveling expedition-style, installing fixed ropes and setting up high-altitude camps, until David sets out alone and reaches an altitude of 7,200 meters. “That opened my eyes—everything can be done more easily, faster, and more effectively.” Breaking with the traditional style of ascent is David’s first step on his own path.

Euskalduna Bilbao - 12 dic 19:45 - Teeth To The Wind / YerupajáTEETH TO THE WINDCanada , United States, 51 min Director: Drew Smith, Ben Knight NATIONAL PREMIERE A season of climbing in Alaska, Wyoming, and Nepal, with Michael Gardner and his long-term partner and friend, Sam Hennessey. As reluctant filmmakers, they question what it all means and unabashedly keep the cameras rolling. In turn, we get a glimpse into their singular, bold, endearing, and mullet-denying approach to life. After Gardner’s death in 2024, while attempting Jannu East with Sam, his friends set out to finish the film as he had originally intended. “It’s not going to be a climbing film,” Michael had insisted. Maybe it’s a rom com? YERUPAJÁSpain, 50 min Director: Marc Toralles, Bru Busom, Rubén Sannmartín EUSKADI PREMIERE No fixed ropes. No outside support. No easy way back. This documentary chronicles Marc Toralles, Bru Busom, and Rubén Sanmartín’s groundbreaking first complete traverse of Yerupajá, the iconic giant of Peru’s Huayhuash Range. Opening a new 3,000-metre route on its vast east face, they carried out one of the most remarkable achievements in modern alpinism, a feat that would earn them the coveted Piolet d'Or. |
