"Ski is Life" is the main image of the 15th edition of the Mendi Film, the winning photograph of the Poster BBK Mendi Film Bilbao Bizkaia award at the CVCEPHOTO contest.
A spectacular ski photograph taken in Zauchensee, Austria, by the Slovenian photographer Sandi Bertoncelj that has earned him the honor of repeating as an image of our festival as he also did in 2020 -with "Into the Light"-.
The photograph "Ski is Life" takes us to a perfect day of powder. The skier throws that energy of total enjoyment. And the photographer sure didn't walk far from fullness!

The Club Vasco de Camping Elkartea, from San Sebastian, has organized for the eighth consecutive year, its international mountain activity photography contest, CVCEPHOTO. This has gathered, as in previous editions, the best photographers of this specialty, professionals and amateurs from all around the world Among the thousands photos presented at the contest, the Jury has chosen 20 winners, being awarded not only some Spanish photographers, but also authors from Canada, Slovenia, Poland, France, USA and Germany, from more than 60 countries represented in this edition.
The winner has been Yhabril Moro, from Biscay, who got the second price in 2016, with a spectacular photography of a ski jump under the sunset lights, at Baqueira, a Catalan ski resort. The Canadian photographer Paul Zizka, winner of CVCEPHOTO in 2018, has obtained the second price with a mountain ski photo taken at the Jasper National Park, in Canada. José Allende, who has also been awarded in several CVCEPHOTO editions, has won the third price with a climbing photography taken at Wadi Rum desert, in Jordan.
The remaining seventeen photographs will obtain their Honorable Mentions, which in addition to the ski and climbing, other mountain activities are represented as well such as trekking, MTB, mountain races, bouldering or extreme kayaking.
The 20-awarded photos will be exposed in large format in the San Sebastian Boulevard gardens from May 26, before the CVCEPHOTO 2022 award ceremony, which is going to take place at the San Sebastian Main Theater on Saturday, May 28 at 18:00pm. The event will involve the participation of several awarded photographers and in addition to the awarded photos, we will enjoy “A White Dream” movie by the French filmmaker Matheu Le Lay, an attractive documentary about the job of a wildlife photographer Jérémie Villet around the cold landscapes of Yukon, trying to photograph the elusive mountain goat.
