From July 14 to August 1, the Urmuga expedition will traverse the Basque Country crossing the watershed. Music and mountaineering will merge together with the Et Incarnatus Orchestra and the Mendiak eta Herriak mountain guide agency. Urmuga is a journey that will take place from west to east from the Sierra de Garobel to the Hiru Erregeen Mahaia, traveling along the main mountains of the Basque Country, led by Felipe Uriarte, and steeped in music under the direction of Migel Zeberio, in various places along the route.
Renowned Basque musicians and singers will gather at mountain peaks, forests or villages, both in large concerts and in other small-format performances: Alex Sardui, Mikel Urdangarin, Maider Zabalegi, Niko Etxart, Maddi Oihenart, Miren Narbaiza, Xabier Leturia , Gari and Josu de Hertzainak, Txomin Artola, Oreka Tx, Xendarin Ahizpak, Eñaut Elorrieta, Petti, even the Orfeón Donostiarra.
And filmmaker Mattin Zeberio will gather the testimony in a documentary. He debuted in 2017 at BBK Mendi Film Bilbao-Bizkaia with 'Zortzi Yukon' winning the award for Best Film in Basque. This year, his goal is to present and premiere the documentary of the Urmuga journey in the Mendi.
