The impact of climate change on Mont Blanc and the town of Chamonix is becoming increasingly evident. Massive rock falls occur daily, and many mountain routes are lost due to the thaw of the permafrost. Cable cars and mountain huts are becoming unsafe because the ground on which they stand is increasingly unstable. The mountain community is forced to make major changes in order to continue to make a living, in a region that has to cope with the climate crisis.
