Éric Escoffier is presented by using images from archives. He was an athlete with a reputation of being reckless, a practitioner of an Alpine style approach in the mountains, someone who wagered it all on overcoming impossible limits, the same someone who ‘preferred to live briefly like a lion, instead of 150-200 years like a sheep.’ At the age of 27, a car accident rendered him 35% hemiplegic on his left side; he was not deterred from facing new challenges. He disappeared, along with Pascale Bessière, attempting to climb Broad Peak at the age of 37.
